VFW Illinois District 14 Comrades,

On the eve of VFW Post 7980's 75th Anniversary in Millstadt, we wanted to make you aware of an ongoing effort to help our fellow comrades there.  Below, you will find the text of correspondence between Mr. AJ Scharf, Proprietor of Scharf Building Services in Millstadt, IL and the Millstadt Chamber of Commerce.  In short, Mr. Scharf correctly identifies the positive impact Millstadt VFW Post 7980 has had on its community over the years -- and highlights an ongoing effort wherein the "community" can give-back to VFW Post 7980 in conjunction with its upcoming 75-Year Anniversary in Millstadt, IL on 12 July 2024.  In the short term, we ask that you pass the word on this effort and solicit volunteers -- as well as consider any financial donations you may be able to provide to help offset some of the associated costs.   The effort is still very much in the planning stage and more details will be provided as it firms up -- to include dates, times, requirements, etc. -- and where to send potential donations as this unfolds.  In the meantime, please note the ongoing effort and join us in soliciting potential volunteers.  Volunteers can reach out to Mr. Scharf via email to AJ@Scharfbuildingservices. com.  More to follow -- but please pass the word and consider how we can collectively help this effort along and make it impactful and successful -- and show support to our comrades.  For your convenience, we have attached a flyer associated with the effort here as well.  ONE TEAM. ONE FIGHT.

ON BEHALF OF THE DISTRICT 14 COMMANDER

{START QUOTED TEXT}

Good morning, Chamber Members,

 A few months ago, we spoke at a quarterly meeting about the opportunity to be able to give back to one of our community's oldest members, the Millstadt VFW Post 7980.  As I am sure most of you can say the same thing, I remember when I was a kid the VFW was the place to go.  They had wedding receptions, dances, parties, and numerous other events throughout the years.  Lots of great memories were made and we are hoping that continues.  With that said, we have met with the leaders of the VFW and have compiled a list of various items they would like to have addressed to spruce the place up and make it a more inviting place people want to go again.  Some of the items on the list are long term aspirations they would like to have completed eventually, I.E. Bathroom Remodels or Flooring changed, however below is a list kind of categorized by the type of work that needs to be completed.  What we are asking is if you are interested in helping out a business in our community, please get in contact with me (AJ Scharf) either by email, phone or text, and I will be coordinating with you and others to create a list of volunteers, scopes of work, and timelines of when we will get this work completed.  Thank you in advance and I hope to hear from you.
